A good start

This morning (June 28th) the whole family woke up just after 6am and made our way to Agassiz to pick up the 5th wheel – our home on wheels for the next 6 weeks. We stopped at Juniper Provincial Park for lunch… seems to be a nice place for staying – that is until a long train roars right by… The weather was always changing throughout the day – anything from showers to rain to sunshine. The temperature ranged from 14C to 20C now at Greeny Lake.

We saw a deer along Hwy 97 just outside of 100 Mile House. As we drove into Greeny Lake, we saw another deer and a bear running across the road. At Greeny Lake, we can hear the loons. I say this is a pretty good start to our adventure in terms of wildlife viewing. We hope there is more to come.

Here I come Alaska!

This is going to be a very exciting trip to Alaska. I just want to pee in my pants!

The Mackenzie River is Canada’s longest river and I will be crossing it on a ferry along the Dempster Highway.

I will be seeing lots of wildlife – like deers, moose, bears, squirrels, marmots, eagles etc. I will try to take some pictures too.

We will be visiting Tumbler Ridge where the dinosaur fossils are. We will also go to the hotsprings at Liard Provincial Park. Wherever there is a lake we will try to catch some fish for dinner.

I packed my winter and summer clothes for this trip because the weather is unpredictable.

Speed, More Speed

I’ve made some configuration tweaks in the backend, I’ve increased the Google Page Speed score from 70/100 to 89/100 for loading this website. But GTMetrix gave me a YSlow score of 77% (C), ugh, more tweaking..

Countdown begins!

The countdown really begins! In a week’s time we will be on our way North to Alaska and Inuvik. We are all very excited! I can’t wait to turn on the “Out of Office” notification :).

You have to love (or hate) technology as we are still reachable while away – either on email, cellphone, through this website or dialling into the truck phone which is dependant on satellite, not the cellular network.
