Mile 0 Alaska Highway

Tumbler Ridge

When we woke up super early at Greeny Lake, we decided to skip the Mackenzie stop and head straight to Tumbler Ridge – it was a bad and good thing – bad because we skipped the WAC Bennet Dam, and good because it gave us an extra day in the Tumbler Ridge area.

We spent the next night at Kinuseo Falls campground in Monkman Provincial Park – driving 60kms on a gravel road to get there. It was a very remote area, not many people camp there. We hiked 3.7km to see Kinuseo Falls which is quite spectacular. Too bad the trail to the lower viewpoint was closed…

After Monkman, we made our way to Tumbler Ridge. We visited the Dinosaur Discovery Gallery and met the local palaeontologist Richard McCrea that was featured in many of the documentaries about dinosaur finds in the Tumbler Ridge area. We took a short hike to look at dinosaur footprints.

Today we are at Mile 0 of the Alaska Highway – Dawson Creek. We will spend a couple of nights here and then off to Muncho Provincial Park..

Moose!

While we were driving to Dawson Creek I saw a moose! I was very excited. Yesterday I was hiking to Flatbed Creek and also went to Dinosaur Discovery Gallery Museum. Last night I made my first fire, it was huge.

Wildlife and Nature – Caroline

Today I saw two deers and a black bear, it was amazing to see it. I also saw some cacti and one was blooming. It was a 6 hour drive to Greeny Lake. Tomorrow I will go to Mackenzie.
